Interview with Carolina, founder of WAP
Celebrate International Women's Day with us. Meet our founder Carolina Nilsson and the office dog Sören.
Who inspires you and why?
A lot of people inspire me, but especially people that choose their own path. If I was to highlight the one “power person”, it would be my daughter. She`s stubborn, kind and always goes her own way. But at the same time she makes sure to involve everyone.
What do you do to find balance and energy?
I love to work hard — which is both a strength and a weakness! However, I always make sure to take time off to recharge and make quality time for my family. I prefer outdoor activities — training with office dog Sören, skiing and surfing as well as planning new entrepreneurial projects.
A healthy balance between work and everyday life I think is important. To create something good is not a sprint, it´s a marathon that needs adequate time.

For far too long, the entire industry has been about mass production and pumping out products, instead of thinking long-term, quality and developing products to stay in the market. Unfortunately, we live in a world where it´s easier to produce less environmentally friendly products.
What was your main goal when you started WAP Dog Care?
- To begin with, I want to say that I am so happy about what the company has achieved so far. The biggest goal of creating a brand like WAP Dog Care is to draw attention to the quality products in the dog care and dog product industry. We strive to show that it is actually possible to manufacture products with a focus on quality and sustainability in Sweden.

Today is International Women's Day. What advice would you give to future female leaders?
- First of all, as a woman, you don't want to get cheers and applause on International Women's Day. I personally wished this day didn't have to exist. We should have gotten further than that by now.
My tips are:
- Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you.
- Think of your career a bit like creating a brand, your actions speak louder than your words.
- Aim to be the best at what you do, or try a different path.
- Have fun, life is too short not to do what makes you feel good.
- Challenge yourself. Nothing dared, nothing won.
The office dog Sören who is by your side every day, tell us more about him!
- He’s my pill of joy! That tail wags constantly, he never avoids an adventure and throws his heart into everything he does. He shows me everyday how important teamwork is to create great things.
I have had three dogs with Sören in my life and I can not describe in words what they have done for me. I would never have been where I am in life right now without them. I’m so thankful!
What`s his favorite trick?
Haha, he does not know many tricks. But his best super power is to run fast. He’s a real athlete. Responsive and a lot of power. And to beg! He loves sandwiches!
